GTM Engineering Foundations
GTM engineering is one skill: turning a vague go-to-market intent into a pipeline that runs without you. A list that rebuilds itself. A score that decides who gets worked. A message that assembles from evidence rather than a merge field.
Every other course in this library builds one of those. This one teaches the concepts they all share, so that when a workflow breaks you know which stage broke rather than which button to press.
About this course
Ten lessons in three blocks: the model (what a workflow is made of), the economics (what each part costs and how to control it), and the design exercise (writing your own system down before you build it).
It is deliberately the cheapest course in the library. You are learning to think about the system, not run it at volume — the credits go on one small worked example carried through every lesson, about 25 rows in total.
Who it is for. Anyone who will own a GTM workflow rather than just use one: RevOps, growth engineers, founders, and reps who have outgrown the spreadsheet. It assumes no automation experience and no Sync GTM experience.
Where it sits. This course explains the concepts; SyncGTM 101 applies them in the product. They can be taken in either order, and many people run them side by side.

The design exercise
What you will have built
Not a table — a document. By lesson 10 you have a one-page system design for your own motion that names:
- The rows: what a single record in your pipeline actually is
- The stages: which of Find, Research, Enrich and Outreach you need, and which you can skip
- The gate: the score, and the threshold that decides who gets the expensive columns
- The economics: your cost per contactable lead, and the number you need it to be
- The cadence: what re-runs weekly, what re-runs quarterly, and what never re-runs
Every outcome course in the library is a build of one part of that document.
Before you start
- A Sync GTM account. The free credits cover the worked example several times over.
- One motion in mind — an outbound play, a market map, an inbound flow. The design exercise in lesson 10 needs something specific to be about.
- No spreadsheet, list or CRM required. This is the one course you can take with nothing.
The one idea, if you only read one thing
Cheap steps qualify. Expensive steps execute. Never run them in the other order.
Finding a company costs a fraction of finding its people. Checking whether a company is hiring costs a fraction of enriching everyone in its sales org. Almost every expensive workflow in the wild is expensive because it does the costly thing to every row, then filters afterwards.
Lesson 06 formalizes this as a scoring gate. Lessons 03 and 08 explain why it dominates every other optimization you could make.
